The Vista Irrigation District (VID) board of directors elected Richard Vásquez as its president and Marty Miller as its vice-president for 2016 at its annual organizational meeting.

Vásquez has served on the board of directors since December 2008. This will be the second time he has led the board since being elected in 2008. He was a member of the board of directors of the Bueno Colorado Municipal Water District from 1986 to 1992, and he was formerly on the board of directors of VID from 1992 to 2000. Vásquez represents division 2 which encompasses the area north of West Vista Way and west of North Santa Fe Avenue in Vista.

Vásquez, a retired civil engineering designer, has served as the chair of the district’s public affairs, fiscal policy, and water conservation and sustainability committees. He has also been actively involved with the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) and currently serves on the ACWA region 10 board of directors.

Miller, who has served on the board since December 2008, represents division 1 which stretches from Gopher Canyon Road to Vale Terrace Drive in Vista. Since being elected to the VID board in 2008, Miller, who owns a construction company in Vista, has served as the chair of the district’s public affairs, water conservation and sustainability, and Warner Ranch committees. He has been the district’s representative on the San Diego County Water Authority board of directors since November 2011.
